amir_ayalon
Hi All, For those of you who are Canadians (or anyone else who knows) which route is better (in term of scenery andwildlife) from Jasper / Banff to Vancouver ? There is the option of Highway 16 then Highway 5 to Kamloops Or Highway 1 all the way to kamloops. Which is better ?recommended stops along the way ? and from Kamloops to Vancouver , which way is preferred ? and what to see along the way ? Thanks in advance for your Help! bob_sunley
Jasper to Banff via the icefield parkway, #1 to Kamloops, west to Cache Creek, 99 west thru Lillooet, Pemberton, all the way to Vancouver. There are no services between Lillooet and Pemberton, nada, zip, not even your cell will work, caution windy twisty roads, heaven on a motorcycle, and great scenery to boot. Tons of traffic and construction from Whistler to Vancouver, but the rest of the trip is well worth it. Don't forget to drive from Jasper to Maligne Lake while you are there. amir_ayalon
Hi Bob, Thanks for the Info. I thought about HW 5 from Kamloops, so your recommendation on HW 99 is welcome! And from banff to Kamloops you recommend HW1 over HW5 ? is it better ? Thanks
bob_sunley
5 runs from west of Jasper to Kamloops, not from Banff.
stemked
Not to be missed is Hell's Gate. The Frasier River gets funneled into a very tight canyon. Pretty cool. My dad drives from Edmonton to near Vancouver, so he takes the more northerly route from Jasper (sorry, don't know the route). In the last few years he has seen several Grizzly Bears near the road in BC.

conwaygroup
No matter which route you choose be prepared to stop frequently. Around each bend is another shot of natures magestry ready for the taking. The Icefields Parkway has to be the most scenic road in North America. pierre_c1
Those were shot from Icefields Pkwy. On the site there are also photos from the Maligne Pass hiking trail, a very beautiful place. I hope you enjoy the trip, I certainly did ! http://photo.peufeu.com/main.php?g2_itemId=3954
