patricklavoie
Hi, any Blurb user in PN that want a share experience? Would like to test them with BW low contrast, high contrast, close to be block shadow stuff, saturated color, normal color..in short test them with any kind of image before i decide to run some *real* book. Anyone have experience as for there quality, did they have neutral bw or greenish / majenta one? In the end what i want is coffe table quality book, like any good photo book that people have at there home. Not the high end type but good looking one, like what Apple book look like its good for me. all experience will be appreciated : )
tonybynum
i've used them 5 times now. very pleased. The black and whites are not as good as they should be, a bit dull, but if you prep the images correctly I think you could over come it, but it wont be as good as it should be. I found the colors to be accurate. The build of the hardbacks is good. I think they now have hardbacks that dont require a cover. All ive dont are the hardbacks with the cover and I thought they did a nice job. . . I'll keep using them . . .
timb196
I've been pleased also. Some pics do lose the pop a bit but the colors are generally matching to what is sent Tim
Brad_
I've made maybe a half-dozen softcover books. The price is great ($13 for 40 pages), but the quality left a lot to be desired. OK for showing people on the street, but not something I would feel comfortable selling... It's alleged that hardcover books are done on another press in a different location. And that the print quality is better. But haven't tried that yet. I recommend doing an experiment with a handful of different images - it's only $13 and very easy to do... www.citysnaps.net
arny raedts
I just got two copies of a softcover book I made with them. It contains mostly BW photo's and it looks great. Very high detail, peppie and sharp. The prints are not 100% BW, they have some dark brown tone. But it is hardly visable. I think the color shots are a bit soft and shallow. I live in Europe and it looks like the book was printed in Europe (it came from Switzerland), I only had to wait 5 business days to get it. Maybe they use a different press over here. It is the best 'print on demand' quallity I've seen so far. Even better than the German Pixopolis, wich is excellent (glossy pages) but very expensive. There is one thing that I miss at Blurb and that is a strong marketing tool/package like Lulu books has. Like selling you book through Amazon. Have fun and shoot save!
