Sanford
At the 2008 Monterey Bay Reggaefest in the FAQ section: "Can I bring a camera?". Answer: "Only 35mm and instant cameras allowed, no digital". This refers to non-press attendees. I wonder what their thinking is.
richterjw
Well, I think it's clear. Obviously, people can't take good photos with film cameras anymore. Everyone knows that. JR
phyrpowr
A guess: no digital, no quick uploads to the media, in competition with the working press?
Sanford
That makes sense, it may also mean no possibility of video. At least they do allow cameras, many events do not.
manut
This is same as all those camera flashes in the stadium seats trying to take a player on the field :-) Is there a special name for these folks in photography world.

fullmetalphotograper
I new there was a reason I kept my Nikon F5 cameras, when i went digital.
tholte
"Only 35mm and instant cameras allowed, no digital". Get some black gaffers tape and tape up your LCD and, voila, you have a film camera. "This is another reason why film > digital." How do you say "brilliant" in French?
jmarshall
What about the cameras in cell phones? Seems to me that 99% of the "non-press" footage I see on news reports is shot with a camera in a cell phone ...
Sanford
Events are fighting a losing battle. Now everyone (except me) carries a cell phone camera. The only solution is no restrictions of any kind which makes it easier on everyone. The recent Monterey Bay Blues Festival had this policy and I think it worked out quite well. spanky
This is one of the reasons I picked up a Nikon F2 recently. I too have been denied entrance to events one or twice because my RZ67 was "too big."
