I guess I'll call this series: "SPRAY"

A couple of shot sof my sons at the base of a falls being pounded by the spray. Oh yeah, me too, and of course the

tough reliable K10D with it's weather seals. I don't think I would have taken a chance with any other camera.

Todd: LOL. That's the way we do it up here yeah. Uhm.... You should see my handwriting :-)

Looks like you found the mystic shopping cart burial ground. Great colours.

Javier: You're almost tempting me into mega zoom territory. Great snaps.

O Shiva: Those gull shots are quite dramatic. I like the high contrast in it's wings showing off the feathers. Almost a

Draganesque feel to it, and I mean that in a positive way. It can't be easy capturing those flying devils. Do you mind

me asking which lens you used?

Robert: The web shot is great, and it does look like a bullet went through a windshield.

Duane: I like dramatic skies, and I like your picture of them

Well I've a busy last couple of days. Today being the busiest. Here are my three contributions for the week.

1. We took the tour to the DMZ today. This is the pinwheel exhibition in Imgingak Park. I believe it was labeled

Peace Walk. They had thousands of them planted in the ground. 2. We had dinner this evening at Sanchon

restaurant in Seoul. They serve temple style foods and they have a traditional Korean art performance later on in the

evening. This lady was one of the drummers that performed. 3. We ended the day enjoying the views from the North

Seoul Tower. This is a flying wire man outside of the North Seoul Tower. That's the tower up in flames in the

background.

Markus - Love that first shot. Could only be improved if your models were more real and not so plastic looking. Ask

the to lossen up a bit next time. By the way, did you steal my cat while I'm away? Sure looks like my Mac.

Except Mac has all his ears or at least he did Friday when I left the house.

Robert - The web is an absolutely fabulous shot. Wow.

Oshiva - Great GIF shot. The gull almost looks stuffed and posed but I don't see any wires holding him up.

Duane - Great gun shot. Superb timing.

Bob - Where is that carwash? It reminds me of one I saw someplace in North or South Carolina. Didn't have the

nerve to drive thru it tho.

Great shots everyone!

Nice stuff as always gang!

I shouldn't comment on any of the great photos this week if I cannot comment on them all but I have to thank Thomas for posting the desert shots. I love the desert and have been trying to talk my wife into going back to New Mexico for a holiday. "Isn't five times enough?" she questions. "No, there are a couple cactus plants I haven't seen in the north east corner and there must be some new coyote pups to sing for us." I plead.

Anyways, I haven't been making many photos for a while. Too many projects to do in my wood shop, I'm SOoo behind!. My POW is even a result of this work and was taken mainly for advertising in my website. This is a cedar/canvas canoe that was destined for the kindling pile but brought to me to restore. So here we are...it floats!<div>00QSpa-63281984.thumb.jpg.39db7613fe7cbfb982907f69fabfc490.jpg</div>

Great shots, everyone! My faves...

Fredrick: Bad Moon Rising is no longer just a cool CCR tune.

Markus: Are bald women considered sexy in Switzerland? Are Mustangs typically Swiss?

Javier: You have a paparazzo in the making there! LOL!

Todd: Your 3rd pic is cool, great composition.

Dave: I'm glad we share a love for weird abstracts; it must be a genetic thing.

Robert: Great web! <nitpick>Did you try cropping to 4x5?</nitpick>

O Shiva: That gull looks surreal...not that there's anything wrong with that. Looking forward to that thread you promise.

Duane: You got that shot at *exactly* the right time! :-) And where exactly do you live that you get your own special time zone?

Andrew: Goeey water is cool. Yucky too.

Doug: Love your David Copperfield photo ;-)

Thomas: Yeah, it sucks to be in the beautiful desert :-p Hey, is that GAIA you're using?

Patrick: I like the pinwheels; how tall were they?

Guy: Flower macros are 10 cents for 12, but for some reason I really like this one.

Scott: We need another photo taken 10 hours later to prove that the boat is still floating :-) I like it, especially the beautiful colours in the wood.

This is at my in-laws place out in Staunton, VA. This is one part of their backyard.... the house shown is actually a cub scout house for the local area.

I went to watch the <a href="http://www.snowbirds.dnd.ca/site/index_e.asp">Snowbirds</a> perform in Penticton, BC

on Tuesday. I try to catch any of their performances within 100km of me, so this is probably the 10th or 20th

time I've seen them, and it was a great excuse to add a few hundred shutter actuations to my new K20D. First shot

was with a SMC Pentax-F 70-210 that I bought along with two other lenses and a mid-80s SLR for $100 back in May

or June.<br>

<br clear="all">

The second image was at the end of the show, with my DA16-45:<br>

<br clear="all">

The final shot was at night on the drive home Tuesday night, also with the DA16-45. <br>

The next time I take pictures of moving airplanes, I think I'll use shutter priority at 1/1000 or faster, as most

of my shots were at 1/500, and I'm unhappy with the level of sharpness on some pictures. The only post-production

was to crudely copy a small section of sky in the first two photos to hide a massive dust spot on the sensor.

This weeks

camera-related purchase will have to be some cleaning tools.

Went to my first pro tennis event today, the Legg Mason Classic, in Wash., DC. With the Olympics going on, it's

almost a second-tier event. We waited an hour for Tommy Haas & Marat Safin to show up for practice, but the kids

couldn't make it past an hour, and Haas-Safin were a no-show.

Nonetheless, I caught Donald Young in action, between 2 poles of a gate door. No pp.

(of course, none of this will make any sense, unless you - like me - pray to the house of yellow felt.)<div>00QSur-63313884.thumb.JPG.0cc93c4657e5c8b96326b864609e2608.JPG</div>

Mis - The pinwheels were about 1.5m tall. There must have been at least 1000 of them. And I think Duane is a Newfie or at least living as one. They get their own timezone out on the Rock.

Duane - How about a bit of a description? Where was the re-enactment shot taken?

Scott - It looks like you did a wonderful job with the canoe.

Darren - Snowbirds... I'm jealous. The last time I went to see them, the show was cancelled because one crashed just as they were starting. They are pretty incredible.

Abe - Shooting thru the fence, it looks like you are stalking.

O'Shiva, that seagull is nothing short of amazing. I think you're saying that one is a photoshop composite, but I don't care, it is awesome.

<P>Dan T., the Elvis shot is another stand-out here. That face is priceless.

<P>Fredrik, I like your "color" shot the best of your postings this week. It has a nice faded-photo-print look to it.

<P>Javier, those are the strangest-looking ducks I've ever seen. Seriously, the bird images are outstanding.

<P>And my submissions for the week, both with the FA 43 f/1.9 limited:

<P><a href=" Laps are good places to be title="Laps are good places to be by andrewg_ny, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3216/2752753556_6c025cdb89.jpg" width="500" height="335" alt="Laps are good places to be" /></a>

@Bob Marz, ' 'Virginia Falls 2' is my fav--it has a surreal quality that really appeals to me.

@ Doug Robinson, the back-lighting is well done--cool shot.

@ Thomas, I thought the universe was bigger than that.

@ Andrew, the 100w friendly angel is wonderful (maybe crop a bit more?)

@O Shiva, the gull is well-matched and the tone is of a dream which might turn bad.

@ Abe, nice shop (crop?)

Well,

Scot, I have to admit I'm more a forest guy.

Mis, it's 105 nights a year, which can get a bit long after some years, in particular when it comes in two-week

chunks. I like the job, but would not mind having better balance with my own research time in the office. That is

a picture taken with an instrument called VIMOS at the Unit Telescope 3 (UT3), It was actually an accident, they

wanted

to put some analyzing optics in the focus, but the instrument misbehaved and just took the picture. This was

probably a few seconds of exposure time.

Dave, it probably is bigger, but with these teles up here (about 100m @ f1/13 or so) the field of view is just so

small that you don't get to see much more of it in a single shot.

Some comment on the pictures above:

Fredrik Rygge: that ‘safe swim is very nice, but otherwise I’m not much into bl/w (ever since they invented colour…..). By the way, all of my holliday pics were taken with a pentax 80-320 and a sigma 28-135, and the latter was used for that seagull.

Dave Hollander: just one maybe, but then a very sweet one, great composition and ambiance.

Robert Colameco : that web is an artistic picture, quite subtle.

Duane Mills: scrolling the porch and window away makes it much stronger (imo).

Andrew Hanna: pea green in very intruiging (I keep looking at it).

Thomas Rivinius: I envy you mountain (don’t have any in Holland), that second one is stunning.

Bob Marz: very dramatic and powerful Virginia Falls 2 !

Patrick Vesterback: I really like that surrealistic first image….

Guy Gervais: speechless….

Scot Tremblay: very nice work, a job well done, the picture is state of the art.

Andrew Gilchrist: those drops are lovely unorthodox !

Wow, another amazing gallery of outstanding work again this week.

@ O Shiva, I'm not certain what you mean by scrolling, could you please explain, I'm open to ideas that create greater impact. Thanks.

@ Andrew, cute dog photo, nice DOF.

@ Patrick, love your third photo, interesting image. Info on the gun shot, Signal Hill, St. John's, Newfoundland. Shot with DA 50-200mm @ 125mm, F4.5, 1/250, ISO 200, sharpness up a bit, Drive mode: continuous. Observed, waited and listened. Having spent a decade in uniform almost a lifetime ago, I'm fairly used to gun drill timing, however I did take a 3 shot burst for insurance. The photo you see is the second of the 3. Cheers.

@ Dan, Elvis rocks! Awesome candid. That's a photo that will be cherished for a very long time.

@ Abe, the gate poles really work to give you a sense of being on the outside looking in. Kudos.

@ Darren, terrific Snowbirds photos. Did you get to the Abbotsford International Air Show too? It's one of the best in the world.

@ Somanna, I love the way the fence leads the eye. Stunning capture.

@ Scott, that canoe is a total wow shot. The blue mat really works too.

@ Guy, amazing flower with awesome DOF.

@ Bob, you should be shooting Pentax weather sealed advertisements. Kudos.

@ Thomas, the desert is a visually stunning alien landscape. Thanks for posting.

@ Doug, cool concert shot.

@ Andrew, this is the first time I found algae interesting. Nice capture.

@ Dave, that's a sweet image. Beautiful photo.

Keep en coming folks. Cheers.
