eyob_kidanmariam
Hello All, I am planning to purchase a good tripod for mainly studio use. Could you please let me know which one to consider? I would appreciate if your suggestion has a link. Thank you/
chris_autio
Buy for quality, buy for life. I have a bogen/manfrotto I have used for 15 years, in and out of muck and water and dry sand. Only recently has it begun to come apart. Bogen was happy to send the piece for a few bucks. I can use it for studio as well, turning the stem upside down for low angle. Add-ons include swivel heads for video work. Expect to pay about $375 for this quality. Avoid tripods with plastic parts.
james_ollinger
Gitzo is very expensive but they have a fantastic reputation. http://www.gitzo.com/
ken_yee
For studio use, you don't care about weight. Best bang for buck is the Bogen 3021 (aka the 055 outside the US)...only runs around $150 but plenty stable for most usage...it's not like you're going to stick a giant tele lens on it or haul it around while hiking 5 miles... Ed_Ingold
If you have a smooth floor and work only in a studio, consider getting a camera stand. It's much easier to put the camera where you want it with a stand.
