<p>The shop often has a few camera themed t-shirts as you can see <a href="http://www.graniph.com/en/product/index.php?

en=1&q=camera&item=NEW_ARRIVAL">here</a>. I actually saw a young lady in Shinjuku wearing the <a

href="http://www.graniph.com/en/product/NEW_ARRIVAL/designID-001003734">"I Heart Rangefinders"</a> one later that evening.</p>

T-shirts with pictures of old cameras on them are very popular among university students these days in Korea, as well. Barnack Leicas are probably the most-commonly featured, but the Ms also make a strong showing.

Cool! And typically silly Japanese English, although the back makes sense. John, have you noticed how film cameras, the more obscure the better, are becoming fashion accessories in Tokyo? (Probably ditto in Seoul).

Constance: Check any Graniph store in Japan- they are everywhere, but I got mine in Shimokitazawa.

 

Clive: Yeah, and check out the new magazine SNAP, they devote several pages of "street fashion" full body pics of hip kids on the

street with film cameras, as well as in the newest issue, a large selection of camera straps and how to coordinate them with your t-shirt

and pre 1970 consumer snap camera.

That said, there is enough amazing photography being done by the under-25 Tokyo crowd that probably

balances everything out in the end.

 

Jeff: I was trying to think of a clever analogy, and the best I could come up with is something like:

This "Save A Film" shirt is to the Leica Forum is what your Cannibal Corpse shirt would be to a forum on Mortuary Practices. There is a

shared thread of Cameras and Corpses, and the readers of both internet venues could probably use a chuckle.

Hmmm, I'll be in Japan in a couple months on vacation & I had been thinking of selling some RF gear there in camera stores, etc. Perhaps I should be marketing them as street fashion accessories, instead.
