brian_bahn
I bought a Fotodiox adapter to use my OM lenses on my E510 but I think in my excitement to get an adapter I overlooked the fact that I could get one with an AF confirm chip, i.e. Dandelion chip already installed. I know I have read on here somewhere about folks gluing the chip into an existing Fotodiox adapeter(or any other brand) themselves. I have searched and can't seem to find the threads where it was discussed. Also I have searched E-Bay and can't find Dandelion chip for OM to 4/3's. I e-mailed Fotodiox and they said they don't have that option. Am I crazy? Or am I just not looking in the right place? I would liek to get the chip and install it myself on my Fotodiox adapter instead of spendign the money on a whole new adapter with the chip in it..of which I can't fins anyhow! leandro_dutra1
You have to go directly to the Russians who make Dandelions, they have instructions too. A Google search should help you there.
jim nichols
I ordered a similar chip a couple of days ago, to install myself on my Fotodiox adapter. patrick j dempsey
I don't think the chip has to be specific to OM. It just lies to the camera and tells it that it has some generic lens of a specific aperture. It makes your exif data sorta funny. I'm surprised Oly hasn't started putting AF confirm and in-body stabilization for legacy lenses as a option for new models.
jim nichols
Patrick, the chips with which I am familiar are generic with respect to the lens, but are made to match the contacts in the Oly 4/3 lens cavity. They must be aligned carefully to achieve contact with the camera electronics.
