When they say "busy as a bee" they aren't kidding. The combination of macro lens, low natural light, and frenzied subject mean that only 1 out of every 50 or so shots were worthy of keeping. This hobby must have got a lot cheaper when it went to digital.
00Puu1-51159584.jpg.6ab9dc5cb8b8302f6e5dfdac6399bd92.jpg

Oh Adam, Rose will love that one for sure! I only allowed myself one afternoon to play with the camera ('cause I'm researching wedding photography right now in preparation for my first at the end of August). For some bizarre reason, I'm fixated on a close-up of the Cottonwood Fuzz floating in the air. I don't know why. It was originally a challenge to myself to help me learn to track with my camera something that's moving while maintaining focus (this to help prepare me to take birds in flight pictures). This is no simple task! I had to sacrifice my legs to the mosquito gods, but I did finally end up with some that are interesting. I think I'm over it now, though...
00Pv3h-51213584.jpg.a695ea6956062c1706774110ca019ff0.jpg

Looks like a tie between two Dave's for photo of the week this time. I'm can't decide between Dave Richharts

"Camden Maine" and Dave Mantilla's Mountains/People shot. Miserere's "Piercing the Clouds" and Haig's "Walk in

the park" are also amazing work. Great shots by all.

Here's two from me. I don't have a Macro lens yet so I was playing with the DA 50-200mm again. No surprises

there. Here are two flower pics.....
00Pv9A-51243684.jpg.e24c5caab02d44d9f5e9419ee775198e.jpg

Andrew, your flower is gorgeous.. and so is the the iris.. but did we really have to see a bee's ass? lol
Tom, nifty macros.. and I think that's a wasp rather than a bee.. it has that nasty look to it!
Guy, I really like your red flower.. looks like it's made out of velvet..
Dave R, I love the 'brooding look' to your photo.
Adam, that is a great cat photo!
Alisa, tracking flying cottonwood? wow and you got it.. those things are bloody erratic :-)
Duane, the JJJ came out great.. I have some great flower shots with the 50-200 too.
Dave H, Sometimes when you end up with a softish photo (we wont go into the reasons why), it's not a bad idea to

convert it into something like a watercolor.. Here's one from Ireland from 2006.

"Alisa, tracking flying cottonwood? wow and you got it.. those things are bloody erratic"
Haig, you are absolutely right! Between the erractic-ness and trying to maintain focus and keep a good background

in play, it is NOT an easy thing to do!
Maria, next time you are in OKC, I will have to take you to Coach's...they have a microbrewery there and their

Harvest Wheat Beer is DELICIOUS!
Matt, the general consensus seems to be b/w, but I have to say I like the nautical colors of the other version, even if

it is a bit overexposed.
Dave, your vacation looks like a blast, and you got great pics to go with it!
Mis, I love the leaf shot, but I gotta say the bridge shot is fantastic!
Javier, I like your daughter's picture best! Inspired me to take one of mine (see below!)
Roger, the 2nd shot (blue car) is my fav! Great color!
Garry, I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I LOVE that ball of dried-up red playdough! I just think it looks SO

COOL!
O Shiva, as always, they are all beautiful, but the macro water droplet wins in my book!
Markus, that is one cute baby! And I have to agree with Garry, I don't think I would want to get too close to that bird!

Maybe the reason he's named Lonely Eye is because he plucks eyes out of people, leaving the other one LONELY!

YIKES!
Dave, in spite of the second shot not being as sharp as you'd like, it's still a great composition, and I think it would

look great if you played with it like Haig suggested!
Doug, very pretty flower indeed! Keep it up!
Haig, I love that bridge shot, but your second one made me REALLY HUNGRY!
Travis, that flower (or whatever it was) is amazing!
Andrew, I share your fondness for Hin's work! The purple in your flower is so vibrant! Keep shooting! (by the way,

where is Hin?!)
Tom, those are kinda creepy photos...that bud shot is very cool! What kind of plant is that?

Your image is VERY SHARP!
Dave, GREAT lighthouse image!
Guy, I agree with Haig...that red flower is so clear and looks amazing!
Duane, I like both your shots...whateaver the second one is, I have the same plant in my yard. I have no idea what it

is either! LOL!
And Haig, that boat shot with the watercolor effect is WAY COOL!
Yea, Pentaxians! We are AWESOME!

border="0" alt="Photobucket">
The above shot is my beauty...I was practicing with my new lens, trying to utilize the natural light and a reflector.

Unfortunately, the glass is not as fast as my 50mm, so I don't know if I'll be able to avoid changing lenses at the

wedding or not. I had to turn my ISO up to 3200 to get this exposure...is the noise that bad? I did increase the

saturation, add a soft focus, and convert to B/W in Picassa.
Lisa: THAT'S A WOW! I think you got a tremendous shot there. The noise is not noticeable in this size.. and your tweaking worked perfectly.. also helps to have photogenic subjects :-) lol. 3200 iso.. that's amazing quality. Glad your new lens is working well for you. Looks like your prep work for the wedding is going very well. Well done! And ummm.. apologies for making everyone hungry :-)

All of these shots are stellar as usual!
Maria, I really like your beer shot! You captured the essence of a pale ale, and made me thirsty! ;-)
Mis, I especially like the Godfrey shot from your set. Brings back memories.
Javier, the race engine shot really stands out to me. I bet your customer will enjoy that one too!
OShiva, I am always refreshed and amazed by your creative exposures.
Markus, each of your shots are completely awesome. Wow
Alisa, great portrait! Doesn't look noisy to me at all... I think the setup gives the shot character...
Hin Man, great shots of the aquarium...

We went back to disneyland one more time before our annual passes are blocked out for the rest of the summer.. I was chasing this little girl around for a minute with the camera as we were leaving the Space Mountain ride, because she was so exuberant.. Twas hard to get any shots of her with the zoom lens on in the dark, but this one at least captured an expression of the fun energy that was blasting out of her...
