bob_hamilton2
I turned on mky D300 the other day and the exposure mode was set to (A) aperture priority. I was unable to change it. Looking throught the manual I found that AE lock would cause this. I turned AE lock off but still coudn't change it. Now I performed the two button reste and the exposure mode changed to (P) programmed auto mode and now I can't change from that setting. I've tried several different lenses as well with the same results. Is there something that I'm doing wrong? or is it the camera? thanks,Bob
daverhaas
Try the reset again - also check battery - make sure it is fully charged. If that doesn't work...take back to the dealer... or call Nikon Support. I have not had this issue on my D300. Dave
bill_pador
I'd agree check battery level and make sure it's charged, then 2 button reset if that fails off to the camera store to have it looked at. I've never had that problem with either of my D300's !
liljuddakalilknyttphotogra
I know this is a silly question - - but you are remembering to press down the "mode" button? I know it's silly - - but when I get my bad headaches I neither see nor hear - - much less acknowledge or respond..... Oh yes - - and don't forget the "turn the camera off & then back on" fix. Good luck... Lil :)
bob_hamilton2
Thanks for the replies...I've tried all of the things suggested to no avail. I removed the battery on Saturday and I'll reinstall tonight to see if that does anything. I also sent an email to Nikon Support...awaiting an answer. Luckily, Nikon Service is located nearby, on my way to work. I've been there before with other products. I just have to get them to say "Bring it in". ShunCheung
Bob, how do you change the exposure mode on the D300? What is your procedure? (Yes, I do know how to do that, but I want to make sure that Bob is doing it right, just in case.)
Jerry_
Do you have a lens mounted on the camera body?
john schroeder
If memory serves you can only use "M"manual or "A" aperture modes if you have a non cpu lens on the camera or if your aperture is not set to minimum.
