nathan_cenower
I recently purchased a 645afd on ebay and have since purchased a number ofmanual lenses to use with it. The Mamiya web site states that I "must" useMicroprism Type C - for Non-AF 645 Lenses focusing screen when using manuallenses in stop down metering mode. Is it really imperative to use this screenand why? If I "must" use this screen will I be able to use it with the af lenses?
charles_m1
I have the 645af with 180mm auto focus lens and 80mm manual focus lens. I do not have the focusing screen you mentioned, but everything works fine. The only problem I know of with the 645af and the manual focus lens is that you cannot use the leaf shutters in the leaf shutter lens. If you don't have any leaf shutter lenses, you should be fine. When I use the manual focus lens, the camera tells me whether I have focused correctly or not anyways. If I am not focused correctly, it tells me which direction I need to focus too. As for the reason to use the special screen, I am not sure why it's needed.
jim_momary
Here's a discussion at Luminous Landscape covering, in part, this same topic. ... http://www.luminous-landscape.com/forum/lofiversion/index.php/.[url=http://community.webshots.com/album/t18533.html Hope it helps. I use an M645 1000s with manual lenses, so I'm of no direct help. Jim M.
nathan_cenower
Thank you for the feedback. I truly appreciate it. I called Mamiya tech support today and they told me that although the focusing screen was recommended, it wasn't a necessity despite what they say on their website.
