Sweet 16 poses, camera setup for very bright scene - Help and examples needed

Hi everybody, any examples of posing a 16 years old girl, her family and

friends.And how to setup my camera for a very bright scene outside with no

shade, what metering to use ?,f-stop,tripod or hand held...please any

suggestions are welcome, I never shoot pictures at 1 PM outside, can I use my

flash ,there is gonna be a very strong back lighting ,I use eos 40d, 17-40,

50mm1.4, 90mm tamroon and 100-400 L, thanks

f11, 1/250th, ISO 100, fill flash. Bright sun is pretty consistent. You don't need a tripod unless you use it for other reasons besides slow shutter speeds. If you use automatic flash (ETTL iTTL, auto thyristor), you must compensate it for backlighting on top of the usual subject value.
