M4 hot flash or not?

I'm considering putting on a flash hot shoe on my M4. I've called Don Goldberg

in the past about doing this conversion and he told me it's a royal pain to do

it. In fact he told me, he's only did it once for a client in the past and would

advise not doing it at all. On the other hand, the cameraquest website

recommends a hot shoe on the M4. It seems logical to make the flash shoe hot on

a M4. What do people think?

Not worth the cost IMHO. I always found the socket with a cord to be perfectly adequate.

Although seldom used, my Metz 45CT-1 works just fine with my M2, M4 and SL. No modifications required.

Get yourself an M4-2. Ready out-of-the-box!

Use a cord. Off camera flash, when needed, is better.

In Germany there is available an adaptor for using a hot-shoe-flash on any non-hot-shoe-camera since the 60's

like the man says, get an M42 or P..or the little adapter with the pigtail for your flash

socket...works like a charm.
