charles_miller
Just another comment about the 135mm f2.8 AI lens. The shots of the antique autos were all stopped down to either f5.6 or f8, and I never shot it wide open.
jeff_z.
Charles, Thanks! I came close to trading this lens for next to nothing, after owning for only a year and virtually never having used it. I then used it for a nephew's outdoor graduation ceremony last June, and wow! I'm very happy to have not parted with it. I also stopped it down to 5.6, and 8.0, mainly because I was doing portraits of father, son, mother, etc., and didn't want to risk faces being slightly out of focus. I did have to back up a bit, but the result were worth it:). The out of focus background rendition seemed pleasing, too. One reason I asked the question, was that in a recent post, someone mentioned this AI lens' design being perhaps inferior to the AIS version, at least as far as durability and ease of repair/maintenance. This was the first I'd heard of this, but mine seems mechanically as perfect as any lens. Anyone have any knowledge of this lens having those sort of shortcomings?
