jonathan_rush
Thanks guys. Guess I need to trade in my K100D Not-So-Super. I was trying to take pics of my kids last night when they were goofing around, and the camera was so far behind in AF that I missed many of the shots I wanted. Now which wide lenses offer HSM, 'cause I'm gonna need to go on a lens buying binge if I upgrade the body.
cory_zerkee
Sigma lenses (the new ones) have HSM as well as the new DA* lenses from Pentax. I just picked up the DA*50-135mm f/2.8 with SDM hoping it would be much faster than the screw drive focus. It's not. It's QUIETER, but I wouldn't say it's that much faster. I was kinda choked about that. Don't get me wrong, I love the lens. It's tack sharp and takes bloody nice shots, but it doesn't focus much faster than the rest of my screw drive lenses. :)
michael_kuhne
In my recent thread regarding defective battery problems, there is a very interesting response from Bryan Smith worth a look. He indicates underpowered performance from batteries, such as the common rechargeable AA variety, often accounts for slower AF performance!! So look to battery power first before blaming the lens or camera! According to Bryan, the non-rechargeable CR-V3 supply the greatest dependable power source.
