igor_kernes
How compare Sears Auto 135mm F2.8 Macro to different 135mm lenses?
mc2imaging
I've never seen any complaints about the Sears and JCP branded K-Mount glass.
jgredline
I have one sears lens I use on my K1OOO and the build quality and sharpness is really good.
JDMvW
Most of the house-brand lenses were made by then major Japanese companies. There are lists of who made Vivitar lenses, for example, and there may be something similar for these other lenses. None of them are the best lenses ever made of their kind, but a surprising number of them are better than you would have any right to expect. azemerov
I own this guy. I didn't have a chance to compare it to another 135mm primes, but anyway - it is my favorite lens! Very good quality of construction, smooth focus, nice optical quality...
Here you can see pictures of the lens itself. Unfortunately I don't have samples taken with lens available online - I'll publish them tomorrow. Check same link latter.
azemerov
BTW, unfortunately in macro modes it doesn't perform well - too soft. It is obvious even through viewfinder. But on middle and long distance it is pretty sharp.
User_502260
The Sears style 135 "macro" lens is similar to several telephotos with the Sigma name. They had a second helicoid up front which allowed the front element group to move forward. None of these lenses was very sharp close up. The nicest 135 with close focusing I have seen is the Vivitar 135mm f/2.8 Close Focusing Fixed Mount. It goes from infinity to 1:2 with its own helicoid. I must have ten of these in various mounts, including some duplicates. It's a good general purpose 135 and very nice close up. I also like the lens for portraits. jemal.yarbrough
I just got this lens on Thursday and took it out for a test shoot on Friday. I haven't tried the macro mode, but here is a shot taken on a very overcast day.

No complaints from me so far. This is the unedited JPG right out of the K10D. Unfortunately, I haven't been as pleased with the JCPenny lenses. To much purple fringing. That doesn't appear to be a problem with this lens. What I also like is that the macro clicks into place at the different magnifications. I'm sorry to hear that it doesn't hold up too well in terms of softness though. JDMvW
Hey, I got a K-Mart "Focal" 200mm lens! It cost me about $16 (WITH shipping), It's really quite decent. What could be more prestigious than to whip out your K-Mart lens? Eat your hearts out, Canon L owners. ;)
