photobiscuits
Is this a worthwhile investment for use with the D40? I wear glasses, If that's important. My goal is to have a larger, brighter viewfinder specifically for manual focusing.
An eyecup might be nice as well, but I can't seem to find one for the D40. Any suggestions? I have read through the old threads and it seems most people are talking about this eyepiece in conjunction with the d200...thanks =)
bruce_margolis
Mike, I have the DK-21M for the D300. It does help a little but the DK-20C is really for correction lenses. Don't know if the first one works on the D40 but the second one does. Another alternative: Nikon makes a DK-22/DG-2 eyepiece magnifier combo that works on the D40. It is a bit larger but may work better for you. I haven't searched the NikonUSA site to see if any of these are shown but they should be available through the better Nikon dealers. Maybe you can learn more about them from the dealer online sites.
bgorum
I'm not really familiar with the D40, but I bought a DK-21M for my D70s and I really like it. The D70s viewfinder has pretty low magnification and it's a little like looking through a tunnel. The DK-21M makes a big improvement in doing away with the tunnel effect. One caution though, I don't wear glasses and with my eye squarely behind the finder the very corners of the image are cut off. I imagine this effect would be even more pronounced for eyeglass wearers.
