Minox enlarger problems

I am new to Minox printing and am using my fathers enlarger (must be model II) which is giving me

focusing problems. I only get one part of the print sharp but not all the neg. is this normal? is it because

of a very limited depth of field or is my head bent? I can't believe the prints we make with this beautiful

enlarger will not reproduce what we have on the neg. When I carefully focus on the paper I see which part

of the image will be sharp and the rest just goes out of focus. sound familiar? thanks all

No, very much not normal. My Minox enlarger gives me very sharp grain corner to corner to corner to corner. Something is out of allignment, most likely the negative stage.

Tiane, you must press down a lever at the side of the enlarge film holder, other wise the negative will be "floating", that may explain

why your enlargement is not sharp from edge to edge

Martin is probably right... also, remove and reseat the lens and make sure the built in neg frame is intact... maybe someone dropped it.

Does your enlarger have both chrome negative carriers? The upper one can be pulled out and often is lost when MINOX enlargers Model II are stored for years. This is a special problem of this model and the reason why many of those are out of function and offered on ebay or elswhere.

Martin, I am very much pressing down the lever to avoid the floating. and Marcus, my

enlarger does not have both chrome neg carriers. am away from the enlarger until next week

but will have to really look inside. Thanks for the info. anyone know if it is possible to print

full neg with such enlargers?

Tiane, Marcus has more experience with various Minox enlargers. If your enlarge misses the chrome negative carriers, it is very hard to

keep the negative in place.
