thierry nguyen cuu - nomad
Hi all, I've seen a few 3D slide shows, made from still images, that look pretty cool and can present a new product for the market. I was wondering if some of you know how they are made? any particular software? (Try a search on youtube with key word "3d slide show") Thank you for any infos. anton frid photography
It seems that you showcase the actual subject of the image, while the background, which a lot of times is beautiful on its own is missing. Its def a fun way to spice up a regular photo slideshow. Im not sure if i would ever offer this over a regular slideshow, but i can see how it can a good add-on option for B&G. tumble2113
I would be interested in any software for this as well, it looks Disneys "panaflex" or what ever they called it. where they layered the cartoon drawings and moved each layer at separate speeds. doug grosjean
3D slide shows are shot with a 3D camera, or by taking two stills and moving the camera 2.5" (eye-to-eye distance) between shots. Can be done with print film, or slide, or digital. When the scenes are projected, polarizers are used in the projector and in the 3D glasses worn by viewers. If the photographer has done their job, the results can be fantastic. I've seen these kinds of shows, at the Ohio Steroeoscopic Society out of Cleveland, Ohio; I'm a member. One member works at NASA, and sometimes brings in 3D pano images from the Martian Rover that just blow me away. Google also on "Dr. T," which is a very nice guy named George Themelis. He's a vendor and sometimes-president of the group.
kiva
That's an interesting video Omega. Very mellow. If you want a more energetic look ... http://animoto.com/play/vdqezyQWzEU00sTeX8Xypg This starts with engagement photos and then goes through the wedding all in about 4 minutes. It's not using video but is using resized wedding images and it sorta' kinda' has a 3d look with it's use of effects so I thought I'd share it. I've been using it since late last year and even send them to portrait customers who enjoy them a great deal. You can create 30 second trial runs for Free. If you end up signing up for the use of this for a year please consider using my referral code: qfkazwte I believe this gets you a small reduction in the yearly fee, really it is small or even tiny compared to some of the items we see and hear of these days. Enjoy. another: http://animoto.com/play/f24fdfb9d04e407441df35a4b1d7b564 I use this to notify bridal couples that their images are posted in their web gallery and they send the link on to family and friends so it's Free Marketing. It's not for everyone but it's a fit for my style and a majority of the bridal couples I work with and it's been a true hit ... they love it. The company is brand new and it will soon be unveiling a version for a full resolution DVD! It's pretty interesting.

thierry nguyen cuu - nomad
Thank you for your posts. I've contacted a few studios offering the service and they ask for ... $50 per still image with a minimum of 10 images ... :(
kiva
I've reviewed several of these 3d slideshows now; I'm back for a comment on a thread that is no longer alive but I now have some distance and some more viewing following my first encounter so thought I'd add to the thread again. At first I was awed by them and the more I see them I'm a bit put off ... they just don't "feel" right to me. They feel kind of spooky in a strange way. The moody spooky feeling about them just doesn't have the tone of a celebration to me. It's a new method so I'll wait to see how it develops ... it certainly appears to have potential. I envisioned a few of my weddings done with the 3d method and it just seemed to feel to "odd" for lack of a better word. I'm thinking it may be only me feeling this way so I'll watch with interest to see if this method gathers and then maintains popularity beyond an interesting moment in the light followed by a disappearance. Interesting but not affordable and appears a bit gloomy or spooky to me right now.

tony_t3
<p>Adobe After Effects is a very powerful program for creating 3D photo slideshow although it will be a steep learning curve. <a href="http://www.memoryimprintstudio.com">Memory Imprint Studio</a> specialize in 3D Photo montage and slideshows. </p>
