johnson_d.
Exciting news: CANON U.S.A. PLANTS THE SEED FOR THE CANON FOREST PROGRAM Canon U.S.A, Inc., a leader in digital imaging, and the American Park Network today announced The Canon Forest Program, a nationwide promotional campaign. Beginning in May and running through August, for every 10 new and existing Canon Generation Green products registered, Canon will plant a tree and offer consumers the opportunity to take part in several volunteer programs that will help to revitalize urban parks, gardens and public lands. j_smith6
They probably want to plant new trees to start producing wooden cameras :P Can't imagine more useless announcement while so many people wait for new 5D. Funny :)
canfred
Maybe switching from exotic glass to cellulose for lens production. Warning do not mention the elusive new ----D the moderator has instructions.

stephen sullivan
I said it last week and I'll say it this week... We'll see an update to the 1D MK III before we see an update to the 5D. Canon's 2nd most expensive DSLR with only 10.1 MP. What!? We're going to see an update to the 5D to surpass Nikon's D3, then why buy the 1Ds MK III? Nah, we'll see an update to the 5D next year. You are implying that the amount of profit is based soley on the price of the units and not the number of units sold.

digitmstr
>>Canon's 2nd most expensive DSLR with only 10.1 MP.<< For Sports that's more than enough. If you need more mpxels, that's were the 1Ds MKxx comes in.
adrian_lowe
If y'all want more pixels, then buy two cameras.. Why does the possibility of a MkII 5D cause so much distain. Its going to happen sooner or later, so why not this summer? Y'never know , Canon might even release it in England first, make a nice change ...And pigs will fly. jimstrutz
It's a rare thing for Canon to make significant DSLR announcements outside of February/March and August/September. Usually about two weeks before the two big camera shows that follow. Not that they haven't done otherwise, but it's not common. I predict we'll hear about the new 5D mark II in August this year. 16 megapixels, Digic III, Live View, .5 fps faster shooting speed with 2x the buffer, highlight tone priority, noise reduction option and improved AF. They always improve the AF, even when they don't. The question is if they will surprise us with something new. Only four months to find out.
