bob_hamilton2
Are either an SB-21 or SB-29 flash (macro ring light)usable on a D300?
gary_watson
They're film flashes. The R1C1 kit has taken the place of the old ring lights and actually does a great deal more. You'll need an SU-800 and two SB-R200 units. No wonder you're interested in the oldies!Like the older speedlights, there's no TTL on D bodies. bob_hamilton2
Gary - You hit the nail right on the head. Looking at the R1C1 setup $$ got me thinking about the ols stuff.
todd peach seattle, washi
I tried an SB-21 on one of the early digitals (Likely a D100 or D70, I forget which). I figured even without TTL, I could chimp it out. I vaguely remember being frustrated by the lack of an 'auto' setting or even much in the way of manual adjustability (just 'full' and '1/4' power). It works, but just barely. I have no miles on an SB-29. It looks like maybe the -29s variant added another manual power, 1/32.
