sfcole
I've checked a number of sites selling pre-cut mat boards, but I have yet to find what I need: a square opening for 16x20 frames. (It's either square mat with square frame, or rectangular mat with rectangular frame.) Any suggestions for where to buy pre-cut square mats for rectangular frames? thanks
john_calafut
Try these people: http://www.framefit.com/ I've gotten rectangular mats with square openings from them before - their website is very interactive.
User_502260
Do you center the print between the ends of the 20 inch side?
dave_thomas8
For square prints I put the 20" dimension vertical and use "optical centering" (but I cut my own mats). See here for some useful centering stuff http://www.russellcottrell.com/photo/centering.htm DaveT
brian_schall
I've priced some 'custom' cut mats at this site: http://documounts.com/content/home The site is advertised in Outdoor Photography. The prices seem very reasonable. I, too, was looking for a 10"x10" opening in a 16x20 mat. Looking to have the mat vertical with even borders on the top and sides, leaving it heavily weighted on the bottom.
jon_shiu
You can get a free custom cut mat (you specify the border widths)when you purchase a frame at americanframe.com Jon
william_markey
Heck, I'm looking for 5X5" or 10X10" square archival photo pages--but no one's been able to point me in the right direction...any new readers have any ideas? This is the problem with shooting square--although I still love my Hassy.
antonio_a.1
Just get your own mat cutter and cut your own - it soon works out much cheaper!
diegobuono
I second what Antonio suggested. I bought a mat cutter and archivial mat board and cuti it by myself, it's cheaper and it's funny too. Furthermore you can use also the square you cut away, so with a single piece you can make 2 mat board: 1 rectangular and 1 (smaller) square.
