simon_fallon
Hi All, I'm thinking of buying a Ricoh GR1v but I cannot find spec details anywhere on the web, including (so far at least) Photo Forum's old pages. Can anyone tell me where I might find them? I mean details like does it provide manual exposure, is there a self timer and/or threaded cable release socket? What is its highest ISO setting etc etc. Come to think of it, I don't even know if it is a rangefinder or an SLR... Grateful as always for any help. simus
Simon, It is an excellent camera. It looks like a toy camera but it delivers fantastic photos. Images are really crisp with astonishing sharpness. As soon as you see , just the negative, you realize this. The only problem is some lens vignetting. it has not full manual exposure. it has aperture priority 2.8 till 22. it also has P, that is the program mode. You can set manual ISO in the range 25 - 5000. as well as you have DX auto setting. You have self timer and pose B. but you have not a cable release socket. you can chose beetween several type of focusing options. this was shot with the Gr1v with a several second exposure pressing the camera against the wall. http://www.photo.net/photo/6585255 Ciao, Antonio

terry_rory
Great little camera. I used to have one. Now I have one again! I bought it at weekend from a friend. Hardly used. No threaded cable release but it has a self timer. It is an AF 'Point & shoot' compact with the abilty to compensate exposure, set manual ISO, manually set aperture, use filters (30.5mm with a clip-on adaptor), set 'snap mode' at fixed focus points of 1m, 3m, 5m and infinity. It spools the whole film out when you load, so every exposure taken goes straight into the cannister. So if you accidently open the film door the exposed film is already protected in the film canister. More details on the whole GR series here.... http://www.gr1.artsociety.net/
