I have two questions;

 

1. Does Canon USA currently have any rebates/cash back on the 400D like they

have currently in Europe.

 

2. Is it OK to buy the camera/lens online from B&H ?

BH or Amazon are great, stay away from the "too good to be true" online stores. Trust me

you get what you pay for.

One thing to keep in mind - Internet retailers are required to charge state sales tax if they have a physical presence in your state. Sales tax on a body or pricey lens can eat away any lower price or discount an online retailer may be offering. I would keep that in mind when deciding where to purchase.

 

I know because I forgot that when I bought my last $900 lens from Amazon, who has a warehouse in my city. The price was better than B&H until I factored in the 6% sales tax, which I wouldn't have paid B&H. ouch.

And for any on-line purchase, check the retailer at Resellerratings.com ALWAYS. B&H, Adorama, and a wonderful bunch of other retailers have ratings in the 9s, but the impossibly low priced stores, many also in NYC, rate so poorly that only a fresh supply of suckers can explain how they stay in business.
