pierre_levasseur
I need to scan large quantities of BW negatives FP4+ and HP5+ and color slides from Velvia and Provia film. What kind of scanner and software should I buy? The Coolscan 5000 ED from Nikon seems interresting with the FH-3 and SF-210 features but Nikon scanners are the only ones I know? Any advices are welcomed. thanks.
Uhooru
They are good scanners. I don't know of anything better at that price point.
stwrtertbsratbs5
Nikon makes excellent scanners - if you can find one. I've been looking for a CS 9000 for several months. Nikon makes them in batches.
roger_smith4
For 35mm I'd get the Coolscan V (or 5000 if I had money and were in a hurry). I'd also get IT8 targets for Velvia and Provia and profile the scanner to save time on color balancing. I use Vuescan myself, but you should download the trial before purchasing it.
