gej_jones
I was asked this morning if the battery that comes in the D40/D40x is a "smart" battery or a battery that if you recharge it "early" it loses some of its ability to charge in the future. Anyone know? Thank you.
dcphotography
Its lithium ion, not that other one, I can't remember the name, so you can charge it any time you want. Someone check me on that.
User_276104
Confirmation - Lithium Ion. And it lasts a LONG time.
akira
The batteries for all Nikon DSLRs except for D1, D1X and D1H are of Li-Ion type. You can charge them whenever you need without any loss of their capacity. Unlike more conventional Ni-MH and Ni-Cd batteries, Li-Ion batteries don't suffer from the memory effect. summitar
Is the EL9 compatible with other Nikon cameras, in particular, the D200?
dcphotography
Nope, the D200 uses a different battery. (The EN-EL3E if I remember correctly). The only cameras (as far as I know) that use the EN-EL9 battery is: D40, D40x, and the D60.
bernie moore
Correct, David, EN-EL3e
