james_ollinger
I have a U-210 tripod. I bought it used so I have no owners' manual, and haven't been able to find one on the net. I'd like to remove the head on this tripod. So far I haven't been able to do it. I don't know whether it's not meant to be removed or whether it's simply jammed on somehow. I thought I'd ask around before I accidentally break it. Does anyone know if the head is removable? If so, how do you do it? Thanks in advance! pvp
Look underneath the head, for a series of small setscrews (usually 3 of them) that lock the head to the column. Loosen them, then the head should simply unscrew from the column.
craig_gillette
I've tossed my older Slik U110 but believe they are similar so don't recall if there were any set screws. It's a 1/4" stud, should be another one on the bottom of the post to allow for shooting down. As I recall, the first time it was on pretty snug and took a fair amount of force to get off. james_ollinger
Thanks! I'll check it this evening. I was able to remove pieces of the head, but not the head from the column. It amazes me that it seems impossible to find an instruction manual for this tripod (or the U-212, which is almost the same).
