kevin_swan1
I'm using Nikon Capture NX version 1.3, and it seems that whenever I adjust the Exposure Compensation, my photos get blurrier. Has anyone else experienced this? What's going on? Here's an example. I took the photo below with a D300 and 17-55 f/2.8 (at 23mm and f/5 at 1/500th, for the curious). I opened it in Capture NX. I went to Camera Adjustments -> Picture Control, then bumped the "Sharpening" up to 8. This produced the result you see in the lower left corner. Next, I went into RAW Adjustments -> Exposure Compensation and changed it from 0 to 0.5 to lighten up the photo a bit. It worked, producing the result in the bottom right corner. But it seems to me that the image in the bottom right is not nearly as sharp as the same section in the bottom left. Is this normal? Am I missing something? Does anyone know what's going on here?<div></div>
ilkka_nissila
This is well known bug in this version of Capture NX. Use a different version or don't use EC.
don_cooper
This is a bug in Version 1.3. Nikon currently has an update (V 1.3.2) that corrects this problem. When you adjusted the exposure compensation the sharpening got canceled, that is now corrected.
kevin_swan1
OK good, so it's not something I'm doing wrong. :) Thanks for the quick responses, guys, I'll grab the update right away.
