carl_cocch
I have photoshop 6.0 and it won't recognize or open Canon raw format. Is therea way around this or do I have to convert to jpeg. I'd much rather work withraw. Any hints? Thanks, Carl
jgaines
Do you have a new model camera?? It may be that you need to update the PSE6 ACR to the latest version. Visit the Adobe site and check for updates on you software.
godfrey
You need a more recent version of Photoshop. The current version of Photoshop Elements has virtually all the features of Photoshop 6.0 (if not more), costs about $80, and includes the Camera Raw plugin to facilitate working with RAW files. catherine_jones1
James is right. I have Elements 6.0 and a Canon SLR and had the same problem. Go to the Adobe site and search for Adobe Camera Raw updates. It will be somewhere in the downloads section of the site.
colinsouthern
Photoshop v6 or Photoshop Elements v6? With the former, you're out of luck - even if you convert to *.DNG format you'll still need PS7 at a minimum. With the latter, all you need to do is update the RAW converter as per above. Cheers, Colin
KenPapai
What Colin said. PS 6.0 (Oct. 2000) never had the capability to support raw image files. PS 7 introduced ACR 1.0 to the world in 2002.
marlboro_smith
What kind of PC are you using? There is other software which will open raw and save it in TIFF so that you can use PS6. Graphiconverter 6.1 will do it. Its available for PC or Mac, and the shareware non-paid version will do all of it. Raw Photo Processor (RPP) will do it too and also offers a number of manipulation tools. Eric
carl_cocch
Ok, I did it. I bought CS3. Ouch. Now it's gonna take a month to learn to do anything with it. Thanks to everyone for the advice and hints. Carl
