je ne regrette rien
I have come across this street photo I like very much. The question is: the subject is obviously in motion (walking) but the photo is not blurred except for the left foot..
How does this happen? If the shutter speed is high it would freeze the motion.

My only guess is that the foot must have been much faster then the rest of the moving body!

Any ideas on this?

Thank you. hans_janssen
The speed down is much faster as speed forward. When your shutterspeed is fast enough you can freese it, the question is: do you want that?
tom_luongo1
Exactly what you say. The foot is moving must faster than the rest of the body. This is not uncommon at all. Every step you take when the foot swings from behind you to in front of you, it will always be moving faster than the body at some point.
todd peach seattle, washi
It also appears on my crappy laptop screen that the near foot and sidewalk area is out of focus. This adds to the blur.
