daniel_tong1
I just bought a DA200mm from a camera shop in Dc area. My daughter picked it up and she did take and upload a couple of sample shots. Just simple resizing with zero pp. Her comment is that the combination is heavy for her with K100Super given she is essentially a P&S person. The image is a lot sharper than from her regular lens , a Sigma 16-50mmF2.8 EX. macro. Well that is expected. The last two were taken wide open. Can't wait to try out this lens myself in Toronto. acrummey
The last two could have used a little more exposure but they are all very sharp. Daniel I can see this new toy being one of you favourites, especially since it fits so well between your 135mm and your 300mm. The last two shots, even though I do find them a little underexposed, really show the value of a lens like this. I really need to make more money. daniel_tong1
Ira.......... I am kind of relieved that the optics are ok as Pentax has chosen not to do anything for the old formula of FA*200mm. They just throw in the sdm motor only. .......... There were extensive test in Chinese Pentax site which confirms that because Pentax did not have time to improve the travel time, AF of the SDM is less snappy than the two current DA* zooms (50-135mm & 16-50mm)........... The two DA* zooms are of new design with AF optimized. This one isn't........... Good and bad........... PF particularly in harsh lighting condition remains (as FA*200mm) This one was posted by another fellow in Seattle just today.......... It is very apparent around the nose/lips area........... I believe it was shot wide open at F2.8........... It is supposed to be a challenge and joy to push the lens of this quality..........
