christos_chatzoglou
Hi. After my first tests, i noted that this lens needs absolutely a centre filter. The only one that i found in the market, is the schneider II c.f. with 49\67mm thread, but is indicated for use with the old 47\5.6. Could it working right with the 75\8? friedemann_pistorius
Yes, it has a densitiy of 1.5 f-stops and will work well with your 75/f8 lens. <br>By the way, Heliopan makes excellent center filters, too.
frank_menesdorfer
You just go in here and klick on the pdf and get all the info, if something is missing than the bottom of the page there is an e-mail address, there you can ask Schneider directly. Thay actualy answer very fast. http://www.schneiderkreuznach.com/foto_e/zubehoer_grossformat.htm
christos_chatzoglou
Thank you Frank and Pistorius. I think that the density and the thread, isn't the only factor for choosing the corect c.f.
frank_menesdorfer
Ecxacly. "only the centerfilter recommended for use specifically with lens in question should be used."
christos_chatzoglou
We absolutely agree Frank, but my question remain. Which is the right c.f. for 75\8? If i'll use the schneider II c.f for the 47mm f\5,6 what will be happen? Overdose correction maybe? Will be accetable the effect? Did anyone use any other solution (step up ring with a larger c.f.)? frank_menesdorfer
It could but probobly not because the lenses diameter is differ and all the lenses has different characteristic. The center filter is correcting arias were just that praticular lens doesn't se very vell. I have one on a lens on one my special camera but that one made for that lens. The filter one doesn't work on any other of my WA lens at all. Well it works if it's feet but it's just not correcting very much.:-) Now, my sollution were to step up with my lenses, for example on my 4x5 I'm using a WA lens which had been designed for 5x7. Both my old and the new deliver a 100 degree and I'm loosing some of the entire image but not that much so I got worried. :-). However in that way I'm using the best out of the lens absolute performance even when I restituate (camera movements). I do have oversized lenses on my 8x10 too. frank_menesdorfer
I forgot some. I don't know what would be a sollution for your lens but I'm sure this would be a question I would address to a lens manufacturer

christos_chatzoglou
I took the risk and i ordered a Schneider II c.f. 52\67 from Robert White. I fited a step up ring 49 to 52 and i shooted some polaroids with and without the c.f. The result is that the vignetting was vanished perfectly. I am very satisfied from the results. I advice this solution to everyone that have the same problem.
butterflydream
There's also Japanese Marumi brand. I have one for 67mm dia. ND-II. Price 1/3 of Schneider, I don't find difference in the result with my eyes.
nick_fotis
As I got recently a used Art Panorama 170 camera with the Schneider Super Angulon 90/8, I am wondering if I need their center filter as well (Schneider IIIb , according to various sites and the B&H catalog). My guess is that the lens coverage is stressed much worse in the 6x17 format than in the 4x5 inches. Would the Marumi work well, or must I bite the bullet and go for the real thing?
