walterh
Must be so much better than the 18-70 "kit" lens given the high price.
harvey_edelstein1
It would have been nice if it were a fixed F4.0 lens. I have not seen any reviews with measurements yet have you. It has a very useful range though 24-127.5mm. This means its a good standalone kit for average outdoors shooting. Just seems slow unless you have stationary subjects or a camera that shoots really well at iso 3200.
walterh
Harvey quite correct. It might be of interest if it were FF - the D3 goes easy at 3200. But lets see the first images - perhaps we are all too pessimistic.
g-man1
I have a 24-85 and 18-55, and a 50/1.4; I hope it'll easily replace the two zooms (on a D300). I'm also interested in seeing how it performs on a F6; the 18-55 (surprisingly) worked fine enough after about 24mm. I wasn't too interested in the 18-200; but I think the extra wide of the 16-85 will be handy/fun. Plus, the MTF looks impressive (for what it's worth --not much?). I'll put up some images as soon as I can.
