Nikon Line Up

Ineed some input....

After two 18-70 Nikon lenses and a Sigma 18-50 failing on me I have

decided to bite the bullet and get the 17-55mm lens but this requires a rethink

of my line up. The cameras used are a D70 and a D200.

I know that lens choice is a personal thing but I need advice: the

lenses I use most apart from the 18-50 are a Nikon 50mm 1.8AF a Nikon 85mm

1.8MF a Nikon 135mm F2MF a 80-200AFS2.8 a 300MM 2.8AF and a 1.4x conv now

despite the fact that some of my favorite shots were taken with the 80-200 I

almost never use it anymore opting for the 300mm instead for sport and the 135

for theatre work. Am I crazy to swap the 80-200 for the 17-55 as I really

don't want to invest a lot of money right now. I am on the fence on this

someone push me over please one way or the other.

Since you already have the 85mm and 135mm, selling the 80-200mm/f2.8 as a temporary solution should be ok. Eventually you might want to pick up the 70-200mm/f2.8 AF-S VR or its successor should there be one. If you tend to shoot under low light, having VR in the 70/80-200mm/f2.8 is a big plus, so sooner or later you might want to replace the 80-200mm/f2.8 AF-S.
