scott_stacy
Does anyone know ... are these two lenses similar in sharpness? Some have said that the 18-200 is a little soft. I am not sure if this is true. Neverthe less, I thought I would check out people's thoughts about this. I am going to buy one of these lenses. Just haven't figured out which one yet. Either way, I am probably going to be using the shorter end of the lens. However, you never know when you are going to need a 200mm! I have a Sigma 10-20 and a 18-55 kit lens right now. I would like to get rid of the kit lens. Thanks for you input.
iambaxter
Kind of hard to give you an answer, being that the 16-85 has not been released yet.
fred_c1
What's wrong with your kit lens besides its resale value? The 70-300 VR will make a nice complement. The 18-200 has received tons of reviews and comments. Search the archives here and look it up at nikonlinks.com
scott_stacy
Fred C ... I find that manual focusing with the kit lens is a little precarious. Although I use auto focus, some shots just require a manual touch and the mechanism on this lens feels imprecise. I have read many reviews on the 18-200. It sounds like a very good lens. I was just wondering if anyone might have the inside scoop on the 16-85. Thanks.
