tim_cornish1
I just got a nice om4 at a real bargain price. I have several but this new one has a rather dim LCD read out that is brownish in color. I can see it fine and everything else works as it should. Should I be worrried about this? The camera came from a smoker because it smelled awful when I got it. Could this have caused the discoleration?
wharridge
You could try cleaning the little illuminator window under "OLYMPUS" on the front of the prism. ...Wayne
john_hermanson2
LCDs can eventually fail. Yours is worn out and would require replacement of the panel. I can do that for you if you are interested. John

john_hermanson2
Labor is based on inspection, OM-4 is usually $139 + s&h. Count on about $20 for parts. see http://www.zuiko.com/index_009.htm. John

david_carroll4
I recently bought an OM-1 from a smoker - the camera STANK - just putting it to my face was a nauseating experience. Swabbing the whole thing down with 70% ethanol helped, but the best move was to replace the leatherette. I bought a black rubberized "Griptac" kit from www.Cameraleathers.com for $14, and that pretty much got rid of the smell. Apart from which, the Griptac leatherette is vastly superior to the standard covering - I don't know whay every camera doesn't have it. I was so impressed, I covered all my 35 SLRs with it - the kits come precut for a variety of SLRs - looks and feels great.
