cmitchell
That there is an eclipse tonight and it's cloudy (and snowing) here in Reading,Pa. :( . I hope someone gets some good shots to share with us.
steve_lantz
Here in Fort Wayne IN it is partly cloudy with a temp of 17F as I type. I will try to see it but by mid eclipse it will probably be closer to 12 degrees or so not counting wind chill factor and I don't plan on trying to photograph it. Besides the cold I would have to go to a better location to get a good shot and I guess my age is catching up with me, I don't feel like putting out the effort tonight. GerrySiegel
Weather OK. Wife says moonrise time means no totality of eclipse from here. I will be out looking anyway for whatever is up there. Thanks for the reminder.

joshroot
<i>"Cloudy here in NW Washington State. Not that clouds in Feb are a rare event here."</i> <p> Hahahahaha, I am a MORON. <p> Just turned around and looked out the window. Not a cloud in the sky. Must have cleared up since sundown. Nice to see the eclipse.

lex_jenkins
I went outside at 7:45 pm and waited half an hour. Nothing. Figured I had the wrong night. Twenty minutes later my bud calls me to ask if I'm photographing the eclipse. I rush outside, get set up again, wait for a break in the cloud cover. At the peak of the eclipse, several gunshots ring out two blocks away - so close it literally lights up the sky. Police cars, fire trucks, ambulances all respond. Meanwhile, for reasons only Art Bell might be privy to, jet fighters and a bomber are cruising around overhead (I live near the joint reserve air base in Fort Worth). Soon three helicopters show up and circle the neighborhood, one with a searchlight; another appears to have FLIR. Just another night in the 'hood. Oh, yeh, there was a break in the clouds.<div></div>

fredrik_steffen
The weather was perfect until 4 hours before the eclipse when fog came out from nowhere. Couldn't see the end of my block. Just my type of luck :(

aplumpton
Clear skies in Quebec City, but a photo of a full eclipse of the moon (about 22 h 30) was rather dull (black on black), but definitely of star quality.
milton-chris
Absolutely freeeeeeezing here on the Niagara Escarpment, just west of Toronto. Was out from 8 to midnight, only processed a couple of shots so far, here's one shot with 40D, Tamron 200-500 at 500. Just got CS# and don't know how I got the frames around it or how to make the frame a colour other than white.<div></div>
milton-chris
hmm - frames didn't show up. Strange program that CS3.<div></div>
milton-chris
pre-eclipse. still-air temp was around 2F; windchill took it to around -5F; when I got in the car to go home at midnight, it was around -5F still-air temp and I was suffering.<div></div>

thomas_hardy1
What would be a good focal length to photograph the eclipse?
lex_jenkins
300mm is probably the shortest you'd want to use to capture any detail of the moon's surface. But last night I was wishing I had my 180/2.8 handy to fit the stars and Saturn in the same frame.
