juan_bonet
Is possible take of the attachment for the M3's viewfinder in a Summicron 35mm and uses the lenses in a M4?
SCL
I remember doing just that many years ago, when a friend loaned me his to try out. In the end, though, I bought a Summaron.
Troll
No. Just use is as is, and the 50mm framelines become correct for the 35mm lens. In fact, this is the most accurate configuration for 100% viewfinder.
juan_bonet
Ok. Then it's not possible. Thanks to all.
juan_bonet
Are more optical differences from Summicron and Summaron?
john_shriver
If you take any M3 goggled 35mm lens, and remove the goggles, you now have a lens that is not correctly rangefinder coupled. Don't even consider it, losing the goggles ruins the lens, unless you want a scale-focus only lens. The Summicron is an f/2.0 lens, the Summaron comes in f/2.8 and f/3.5 versions. The optical formulas are quite different, as is the character of the image.
vincenzo_maielli
The 35 mm f/ 2 Summicron and 35 mm f/ 2,8 Summaron with goggles are different from the same lenses without goggles. In fact, the goggled version engage the 50 mm frameline in the viewfinder, with all Leica M cameras. The goggles enlarge the 50 mm frameline up to the 35 mm frameline. This happen because the Leica M3 have only the 50, 90 and 135 mm frameline in the viefinder. If you remove the goggles, your lens engage only the 50 mm frameline, also whit M4, and you need an external 35 mm finder to do the composition. Ciao. juan_bonet
Is the Summaron a good lenses? Is Summicron better?
vincenzo_maielli
From f/ 2 to f/ 4 the Summicron is better, from f/ 5,6 to f/ 16 shown substantially the same optical quality. If you take many pictures in available light, the Summicron is a better choice (in my opinion). Ciao.
juan_bonet
Thanks Vicenzo. Then I must look for a Summicron.
