NEC LCD2690WUXi Brightness level issue

Recommended Posts

I am a new user ... I have noticed that this monitor is very bright, even after

calibrating with SpectraView II leading to slight darker images at output

(prints). Are people out there using this monitor at 100% on the brightness

control. Right now I am at 75.2% and the prints, after processing, are looking

more like my display. I would be curious about other peoples setting. Thanks

The monitor brightness needs to match your digital darkroom lighting brightness. Compare a purely white image on your monitor (all R, G and B values at 255) with a blank sheet of printer paper illuminated by your digital darkroom lighting normally used to view your prints. 75% translates to about 250 or 300cd/m^2 (also called nits)? That's still way too bright for most lighting situations. This bright monitor will cause you very likely to edit your image too dark, resulting in too dark prints.
