johan_de_groote
I identified with help from here the old double 8 cine camera I have. But it didn't function and I just opened it up to find out if it wasn't something simple. At first sight it was something simple. There was a broken gear in it, the only gear in paxolin/phenolic. So I made a copy of it in urethane. Thinking all was well I put everything back together. But I still could not wind the spring. It went about a quarter of a turn and much heavier going then I remember. And if I turned the other lever I have I broke the just replaced gear. So: or there is something else wrong, or I do something wrong. (or likely both) I have no idea at all where I could send it to be repaired (europe). Is there someone here that is prepared to go through an email repair session with me? Biggest problem is to take it completely apart. I fail to take off the side cover because of a single little axle that turns an indicator to show the film is moving. Failing that a manual would be nice... I searched the net for manuals and more info but not much turned up. Joining the 8mm forum gives an error and the webmaster never returns emails so I gave up there. dan_fromm2
Johan, go here http://www.collection-appareils.fr/phpBB2/index.php and click on forums. You'll have to register to post. I make the suggestion because there've been discussions of an LD-8 within the last couple of months. At the least you may be able to get directions to a parts camera. Also, Mael Bilquey (click on réparateurs, search for his name) may be able to help you. He's never worked on anything of mine, but the people on that forum regard him as a wizard.
