atlantic_media
Hello and thanks to all for reading, I wanted to post with regard to the type of Paper my current photo lab is using. I use to have my pictures printed at a lab where i previously lived. And at my old lab they printed all of my photos on a paper that on the back said ** Fujicolor Professional Paper. And there was also a copyright statement on the back in English that stated "if copyright applies permission to reproduce requited" The copyright was also on the back in German i think. Anyway the lab that i am using now has the same exact paper with the same text on the back and both are lustre finish. But the only thing is the prints from my new lab are definitely more flimsy and not as thick and stiff as my previous lab. So my Question is: Are there different weights or thicknesses to this type of paper? Is it possible that one lab had a thicker version of the same exact kind of paper. Or is maybe the processing of the paper making is more flimsy? I tried looking on the Fuji website but i only found that there website talke about crystal papers. And from what i read on the back this is Proffessional Paper. Thanks and i really apprecciate any of your contributions and answers.
vibin247
You're probably talking about the Fujicolor Crystal Archive Professional Super Type PD paper. At the lab where I work, we switched to this new type, from the previous Crystal Archive, mostly because the majority of our business comes from wedding and portrait photographers. It is a little bit thicker, especially between the 6" and 10" rolls that we use, and the color saturation isn't as strong as the previous type, which is more beneficial for skin tones and fine gradations of light and shadow. What you're experiencing with the difference in thickness and weight is probably just normal variation from different processors. Are both labs using different models of the Fuji Frontier system?
