madhu_menon
Can exposures with heavy Chromatic Aberration be damaging to the Digital Camera Sensors ?
rainer_t
No. Chromatic aberration doesn't change the energy to which the sensor is exposed.

vivek iyer
Not even that (Sun). I have been using a D70 since I bought (the month it became available) it, regularly for that task. Nothing has happened, though the camera itself went through a BGLOD (no fault of the Sun or any use).
phule
[[shooting into the sun can.]] A generalization like this is often wrong. It's certainly wrong here. Can you deliberately set up the conditions by which you damage a sensor shooting into the sun? Of course. Will you experience sensor damage during the course of your photography? Certainly not. There is no problem with shooting into the sun as far as the sensor is concerned.
