davyjo
I can't seem to find a definitive answer to the question: Will these work together?
phoneguy
Yes, they will work together. As long as the sigma lens works on your current camera, you will have no problems.
ken_thompson1
From sad experience, the answer is "No". The Extender extends too far out in front to connect to the lens. I used a small extension tube between to make it fit, but then you lose infinity focusing, plus other problems. I gather that the sigma extender does work, but have not tried it. davyjo
OK, these two answers have cleared this up!
bobatkins
Yes indeed. The internet is a wonderful source of information!
phoneguy
I appologize, you do need the Sigma converter with the Sigma lens. I got ahead of myself.
phoneguy
I'm going to step out of this one. In the FM forums, they seem to suggest that it doesn't work with the Sigma 70-200. Bob says it does. Ken says from experience, it doesn't work. If he has tried it, I would lean towards his answer.

JosvanEekelen
Both the Sigma and the Canon extenders have protruding front elements. I don't have the 70-200 but the 180/3.5 macro lens. This will not fit the Canon 1.4x because the protruding element is too wide to fit the Sigma lens. Of course this may be different with the 70-200. jam_pasion
I happen to have those two pieces of equipment and i have to say that they DO NOT physically couple together. I have the sigma 70-200 apo macro model. Not so sure about the older model lens.
matthias_meixner2
Are you looking for a new extender or a new lens? As long as we do not know we cannot suggest alternatives.
davyjo
I have had the Sigma 70-200 for quite a while and the Canon 1.4 extender was offered to me in a deal I couldn't pass up. I'll either hang on to it until I can afford the 300mm f/4 IS, a combination that seems to be a winner, or sell it to fund other pursuits. Thanks for the input from everyone.
