john_c.
Some models of the Rollei TLR (e.g., 3.5F models 2 and 3) have internal release pins to accept an optical glass pressure plate, supposedly to ensure optimal film flatness. Does anyone use a TLR with one of these plates? Are they useful, i.e., do they make a difference in picture sharpness? And, are these plates available in the market today? Thanks. bill_barton
John, I used to own a Tele-Rollei that still had the glass plate with it. There is a place in the camera case to store the plate, that's where I found the one for my camera. I tired it with and without, did not see any major difference. The only problem was keeping the glass plate clean, I would always have problems with small particles of dust or lint from the paper backing from the film sticking to it....Bill
tariq_al_murri
Dear John,I think this glass plate will help when you use the camera in some photogrammetry work which need good flatness of the media to get corect dimension form it. so with some software you can bring out dimensions from the object you photographing. Thanks Tariq Al-MURRI
ken_munn
Tariq, I rather think that Rollie's glass pressure plate pre-dated photo-grammetic software, by a decade or three! Ken
