jorgen_udvang
Very good news indeed. It will definitely make me add an E-510 or E-3 earlier than planned to get more out of my OM-lenses.
jim_flinchbaugh
Hey Derek, That is good news to hear, Now, is the IS system worth the extra money? Trying to decide 'tween teh 410 & 510. What do you think? Jim
derek_linney
Having experienced IS for several years on Canon equipment I believe it is worth every cent. Sure there are situations where it doesn't help - photographing fast moving subjects - but for the majority of what I shoot it gives three big benefits:
a) I can shoot at light levels that just wouldn't be possible except by using a tripod
b) I can shoot at lower ISO values
c) I can hand hold at slow enough settings to get creative effects (water blur etc.) but without camera shake.
There was no way I was going to make the move to Olympus when they didn't have IS. But with the E-510 and now E-3 they have a great solution.
I shot some pictures this week using a Zuiko 90mm f2 Macro on my E-3 at speeds as low as 1/20 sec with no problems. [some at 1/10 were OK but it was hit and miss but at 1/20 nearly all were fine]. This is equivalent to a three stop advantage.
By the way this is a great lens - I always liked fast primes for narrow DoF and this lens works fine even wide open on the E-
kamal_nv
No doubt...once used to IS you will never let go of it...and built on body... E510 is worth every penny and now with support for Legacy lenses...it's unbeatable.....
