m_barbu1
You know that's not the definition of available light, right? ;-) Flash has the side-effect of darkening the things that don't get hit by the flash. In my photography, I need the background as much as the foreground.
mendel_leisk
If you haven't found it already, this site is always worth consulting for Canon lens. He has exhaustive comparison reviews (with side-by-side pictures of similar lens), example shots, and a whole sub-section on target shot and vignette testing: http://www.the-digital-picture.com/
m_barbu1
That reminds me. DP Review has recently started testing lenses. They currently have only tested 4, but check out the Flash-based reporting of their tests! Pretty slick!
ajb2222
After looking at reviews and asking opinions. Take your body into a reputable camera shop that has a lot of lens choices. THey will let you try the lenses on your own camera. Take multiple shots from each lens. GO home and look at the pictures on your computer. THe exif data will tell you wich lens is which. m_barbu1
Bring a couple of rolls of film and mark them accordingly. Then, get 8x12 prints made.
