adam_barr
Was at PMA today and saw the new Fuji GF670. Did not have a camera with me to get pictures though. This is a 6x7 camera which was a little surprising. It seemed similar to the GA645, but had the bellows lens of some of the other fuji medium formats of the past. Pretty compact overall. Bad news is that is probably going to be a Japan only product.
film rules
Adam, some details please! Yours is the first post on this prototype - focal length? maximum aperture? auto focus/manual focus? etc.
leicaglow
Wow, I was wondering. I'm surprised they would use a bellows lens though. Did it look modern? Interchangeable lenses? More!<g>
adam_barr
There is not much info and in fact no one was around that could answer anything. They had a case with two cameras, one silver and one black. If had the model name GF670 embossed on it. It did not seem there would be interchangeable lenses. I am surprised no one else posted. It is not a secret or anything as the cameras are right in the middle of the fuji booth at the PMA.
christiaan_phleger___honol
SHeesh! Nobody goes to a camera show with a Camera? Its Right In the Middle of the booth, and yet, nobody knows nothing. Way to stir up 'Excitement'. Thanks anyway Adam, I'm glad we now have your confirmed in the flesh sighting that it actually exists.
eric friedemann
"Nobody goes to a camera show with a Camera?" I know the website is "DIGITAL Photography Review." But would it really have compromised the whole site if they'd provided a pik and a sentence or two about this new 6x7 film camera? http://www.dpreview.com/articles/pma2008/Fujifilm/
dan_kreithen
What was the focal length/aperture of the lens? Any details on construction (metal, plastic). Did it use the lazy tongs type of extension mechanism.

Andrew in Austin
Bravo Fuji, Bravo. Hopefully, it will come to fruition and be available in the US. If not the latter, then I'll be saving up my yen for a gray market purchase. Also, I'll bet it is not going to be inexpensive. Best Regards - Andrew in Austin, TX
antonio_garcia_russell
Qudos for producing a film camera I guess but shame their is no innovation.... would have been good to see them push the envelope a bit and not go for a 50 year old design. hclim
One thing they need to do is engrave the date manufactured in bold at the bottom just so that curious folks might think you are using grandfather's camera and can't afford a digicam. jeroen dommisse
Knob rewind? How retro can you get?
herve_laurent
the lens is an 80 mm too bad that they did not make it square 6x6 instead of 6x7 it would make any issue of holding the camera vertical edundant
stuart_richardson
Strangely, it is not up on fuji's pma site...at least in the USA. It looks cool though, like a modern Iskra. It's an f/3.5 lens like the Iskra too, but given 6x7 it is probably a 90mm...
stefan_kahlert2
"Knob rewind? How retro can you get?" You do not rewind roll film. But as the wind on is also by knob you certainly have a point. Stefan
derek_stanton2
Thank you, Antonio! Wonder what the focal length is. I was hoping for a fast lens ??faster than 3.5. Wonder how close it can focus.... This is interesting. Manual and Aperture Priority, with exposure compensation ??nice. This is what i expected Voigtlander to do.... d_purdy
http://www.letsgodigital.org/en/18141/fujifilm-medium-format-camera/ Here are a few more pics of it. It is an 80mm lens. 6x7 format. I kind of wish it was something other than 80mm.
bernard_schneider1
This is something else - I never expected to see a new medium format camera again, ever. An 80mm f3.5 is to be expected, I don't think any of the old folders were faster than f2.8 or had lenses much different - and this is a nice focal length for 6x7. Maybe if its successful they'll introduce a wide-angle version. I'm with Herve that a 6x6 would be smaller - although couldn't be any smaller than my Balda Super-Baldax. I love the small size of the Balda, but a more modern electronic shutter would be even better. The knob wind on is very retro and less functional but it sure makes the camera sleeker. I would buy one.
derek_stanton2
Thanks, Dennis. It's pretty. My first reaction is ??I want one. But, because it's (only) a 3.5/80mm, it's going to have to perform very well wide open to give me the DOF effects i want. And, i wish there were some accessory to allow a more 'modern' thumb-ratchet film advance, even if it were a multi-stroke thing.
derek_stanton2
Another thought ? How is this going to differ from a Mamiya 7? 80mm/f4, versus 80mm/f3.5. Do folders with bellows typically allow close focus? I'd love to have a compact, close focusing rangefinder for travel portraiture....
Robert_Lai
On this Spanish site <a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=es&u=http://www.ojodigital.com/foro/showthread.php%3Fp%3D1958063&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=4&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dfuji%2Bgf670%26hl%3Den%26rls%3Dcom.microsoft:en-us" >with Google translation</a> is a picture of a black one, closed up.<p>I love this new folder. I've already emailed Fuji USA, asking about pricing. If more of us do the same, maybe they'll get the hint.
leicaglow
Reminds me of a Voigtlander Vito II or something. I hope the price is lower given it's bellows design. It would be compact to fold up and drop into another camera bag though.
andrewlamb
Looks like a modern Voigtlander Bessa II. Very attractive camera. Hope it's an attractive price.
