The "II" version is supposed to perform better at close focusing distance. I really never use mine under about 10 feet, so not an issue/feature for me. Usually, Sigma rev-2 products fix problems in the rev-1 versions and are a better choice. Also, Nikon has just leaked the release of a Nikkor in the 50-150/2.8FX format, which will surely be very fine. Night want to hold-off for that. I think Ellis suggested such a thing to folks at Nikon, but I don't think anyone said anything about such a lens being produced. Please correct me if I'm wrong...
