mindpuncture
I have an Olympus PEN-D that was given to me 15yrs ago. It looks like new in the box with lens cap, manual, wrist strap, flash bracket, and leather pouch; I mean this has it all. So today I thought I would have some fun with it and shoot some film through it for the first time. The meter worked so I thought COOL, although the film advance seems to be locked up and the shutter will not work, so now I think poop :( Now does anyone have a clue? Could it really be broken or am I not smart enough to figure it out:P I received the from the original owner (family member) and I know he takes great care with his photo equipment so I'm stumped now~ terry
john_robison3
Sitting idle for long periods of time is hard on leaf shutters, they can freeze up. If that is indeed the problem then the shutter needs a CLA by a repair agency familiar with the type. Camtech (www.zuiko.com) can do the job properly but you'll will be into it for about $100 with shipping. If that sounds like a lot of money remember you have nothing into the camera now and once fixed the Pen D is a superb camera with a wonderfully sharp lens. One more thing, leaf shutters can tick along fine for years, if they are used regularly or at least ran through their speeds every month or so. john_hermanson2
It is probably jammed from non-use. I can overhaul it for you if you are interested. John, www.zuiko.com
