guy_bishop
I have this flash which will not release. I would appreciate any ideas on how to get this flash off.
john_h.1
You don't provide any details at all so we should start with the most obvious...Did you flip the lever to the release position?
guy_bishop
I did flip the lever to the release position. I also flipped it locked and unlocked sereral times.
iancoxleigh
So, how hard are you tugging?
lex_jenkins
The locking pin is spring loaded but may have gotten stuck. It's located at the front of the SB-800, probably the same on the SB-600. You could try *gently* nudging it with something soft like a toothpick, very thin bit of plastic, popsicle stick whittle to a chisel point, etc. Basically, it'll be like shimming a credit card into a door lock. User_276104
Possibly, pushing it back into the seated position and a little wiggling will free up the pin in case it's butted up against an edge of the pin hole.
Rich B NYC
The pin is spring-loaded. If the spring is broken, you may be able to get it to release by turning everything upside down before trying to remove the flash. The pin should slide back into the foot of the flash...at least in theory.
rene gm
The holding mechanism uses one pin on the front, and two metal pieces (left and right) holding the flash steady. If the level does not release one of them, I'd only trust in the Nikon repair.
everett_cavazos
same thing happened to me, had to send it in to Nikon. They covered it since it's the Flash hardware that failed.
