littlemike
I'm tinkering with using a spare 380EX as a remote flash a la Strobist. I'vemanaged to wirelessly trigger it using my 20D's PC port > eBay transmitter >matching receiver > hotshoe adaptor mounted on a light stand. The 380EX manualdoesn't go into how the flash operates when not connected to a Canon camera. Itsets itself to 50mm zoom, and looks like it just puts out a full power flashwhen triggered. Is there any reason to think otherwise?
picturesque
No. You are correct.
nilantha
Do you mind sharing the eBay transmitter (model number) information? Sometime ago my attempts to do the same for 380EX and 540EZ failed. I am using optical slaves with manual control of speedlights at the moment. If you can trigger 540EZ remotely that would be great.
littlemike
Thanks, Nadine! For the cheap-o eBay triggers, search on eBay for "Hot Shoe Flash Wireless Radio Remote Trigger Studio" -- these work with my 380EX and a Sunpak 422D. Should work with any standard hot shoe flash, I bet.
